The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has warned social media users that their online activities are being closely monitored. The warning was issued by Additional Director NCCIA Lahore Zone Atif Amir during a press conference.
Atif Amir said the agency operates an active cyber patrolling unit to monitor social media platforms. According to him, the team conducts monitoring activities during both morning and evening hours. The initiative focuses on identifying online activities that may violate applicable laws.
The NCCIA has identified three main areas of focus for its monitoring operations. These include illegal call centres, online content described as anti-state, and cases of online harassment. The agency also aims to address attacks on individuals’ reputations and harassment targeting women.
Speaking at the press conference, Atif Amir emphasized the agency’s continued attention to online activity. His remarks highlighted the role of cyber patrolling in identifying potentially unlawful content and activities across digital platforms.
Illegal call centres are among the agency’s key priorities. Such operations can be associated with different forms of online fraud and cybercrime. Monitoring these activities may help authorities identify suspected violations and pursue cases under relevant laws.
The second priority involves tweets and messages classified by officials as anti-state content. The agency has included such online communications among the areas receiving attention. However, the specific legal status of individual posts depends on their content and the applicable law.
Online harassment is the third major area highlighted by the agency. This includes conduct that targets people’s reputations and harassment directed at women. The focus reflects concerns about the misuse of social media platforms to intimidate or harm individuals.
The NCCIA’s cyber patrolling activities form part of its broader efforts to address cybercrime in Pakistan. Social media platforms have become important spaces for communication, public discussion, and information sharing. Authorities are also paying attention to their potential misuse for unlawful activities.
Users should remain aware of the laws governing online communications and digital conduct. They should avoid sharing unlawful content, threatening others, or using online platforms to harass individuals. People who experience online harassment can preserve relevant evidence and seek guidance through official reporting channels.

The announcement places social media monitoring among the agency’s stated operational priorities in Lahore. However, the press conference remarks alone do not establish that every online activity is unlawful or will lead to legal action. The NCCIA has reiterated its focus on illegal call centres, flagged online communications, and digital harassment. Further details about specific enforcement actions were not included in the provided statement.
