The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released an official weather forecast warning for Pakistan from March 17 to 25, 2026. The alert covers the upcoming Eidul Fitr holidays and includes rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds.
According to the NDMA, a westerly wave will affect northern and western areas, bringing light to moderate rainfall. Windstorms and thunderstorms are expected, and temperatures will drop across the country during this period.
In Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mianwali, Sargodha, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Lahore Division, widespread rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are forecast. Upper Punjab may experience isolated hail, while southern districts like Multan, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Dera Ghazi Khan will see occasional rain and cloudy skies.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also expected to face rain and windstorms. Cities and districts including Chitral, Dir, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Kohistan, Khyber, Kurram, Mansehra, Mohmand, Nowshera, Malakand, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Bannu, Buner, Hazara, Peshawar, Swabi, Swat, Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan will experience intermittent rainfall with breaks in between.
Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir may see isolated rain and thunderstorms. Snowfall is possible in higher-altitude and hilly regions. Meanwhile, Balochistan, including Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Kalat, Qillah Saifullah, Qillah Abdullah, Pishin, Barkhan, Sibbi, Dera Bugti, Khuzdar, Awaran, Panjgur, Turbat, and Gwadar, will experience scattered showers and storms.
Sindh is expected to remain mostly dry. However, some isolated rain and thunderstorms may occur in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Umerkot, and Mithi.
Authorities have urged residents to stay alert, take necessary precautions, and monitor local updates. They also advised avoiding unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions.
