The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning about heavy rainfall expected across several regions of Pakistan in the next 24 hours. The weather is expected to bring strong winds, thunderstorms, and the possibility of urban flooding, as well as overflowing streams and rivers.
According to an NDMA spokesperson, regions including Lahore, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, and Khushab will experience heavy rain within the next 12 hours. Similar weather patterns are forecasted for Sargodha, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad, with heavy rains likely to affect Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Hafizabad.
The NDMA also highlighted the potential for continuous heavy rainfall in Islamabad and Rawalpindi over the next 24 to 48 hours, with intermittent downpours expected to persist.
In response to the heavy rain forecast, the NDMA has assured the public that timely preventive measures are being coordinated with relevant authorities. The spokesperson urged citizens to stay alert and avoid crossing flooded roads, bridges, and streams with strong currents. These precautions are crucial to ensuring the safety of all individuals during this weather event.
As the heavy rain continues, the NDMA is closely monitoring the situation and providing updates to ensure the safety of residents across the affected areas. The public is advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to avoid potential hazards caused by flooding.
