The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase in electricity prices by Rs2.37 per unit under the monthly Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) for September 2026.
The decision will increase electricity expenses for consumers across Pakistan. The additional charges will appear in electricity bills issued in November 2026.
According to NEPRA’s latest notification, the increase reflects changes in fuel costs during September. The adjustment will affect consumers using electricity through different distribution companies.
The decision will also apply to K-Electric consumers. This follows the government’s policy of maintaining uniform fuel adjustment rates across electricity distribution companies.
NEPRA Approves Rs2.37 Per Unit Electricity Increase
Earlier, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested an increase of Rs2.56 per unit under the September fuel price adjustment.
However, NEPRA approved a lower increase of Rs2.3673 per unit. The authority issued its notification after reviewing the requested adjustment.
The approved increase will add to consumers’ monthly electricity expenses. Households and businesses may face higher bills when the revised charges are included.
The latest decision comes amid continuing concerns about rising energy costs. Electricity prices remain an important financial issue for households and businesses.
The additional charges will be collected through November electricity bills. Consumers should therefore expect the fuel adjustment to appear in their upcoming monthly payments.
K-Electric Consumers Will Also Face the Adjustment
NEPRA’s notification confirms that K-Electric consumers will also face the revised fuel adjustment.
The government maintains uniform fuel price adjustment rates across electricity distribution companies. This means consumers in Karachi will also receive the additional charges.
The policy aims to maintain consistency in monthly fuel adjustments across different parts of the country.
As a result, the latest increase will affect electricity consumers beyond areas served by government-owned distribution companies.
Petrol and Diesel Prices Reduced
Meanwhile, the government has announced reductions in petrol and diesel prices. The decision provides some relief to consumers facing higher transportation and fuel expenses.
According to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), petrol prices have been reduced by Rs6.59 per litre.
Following the reduction, the new petrol price stands at Rs346 per litre.
The government has also reduced the price of high-speed diesel by Rs4.25 per litre. Its revised price is now Rs378 per litre.
The updated petroleum prices will remain effective until November 10.
Consumers Face Mixed Changes in Energy Prices
The latest announcements bring different changes for energy consumers across Pakistan. Electricity prices have increased, while petrol and diesel rates have decreased.
The electricity adjustment will increase monthly power expenses for households and businesses. Meanwhile, lower petroleum prices could reduce transportation and fuel costs.
However, the electricity price increase may affect household budgets. Consumers will see the additional charges in their November 2026 bills.
The latest NEPRA decision once again highlights the impact of fuel costs on electricity prices. Further monthly adjustments will depend on changes in fuel expenses and regulatory decisions.
