RAWALPINDI – The Punjab government has launched a new mobile app to make it easier for people to schedule meetings with prisoners across the province, including Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
According to official sources, the mobile app enables users to book appointments in advance for meetings with both convicted and under-trial inmates. The app is available for download on the Google Play Store, allowing citizens to manage their visit without waiting in long queues.
A formal notification has been issued to all jail superintendents in Punjab regarding the implementation of this new system. The initiative aims to improve transparency and convenience in the prison visiting process while reducing administrative delays.
Special training sessions have been conducted for the Prisoners Management Information System (PMIS) in-charges at each jail to ensure smooth operation of the new mobile app. Additionally, instructional videos have been distributed to train staff members on how to assist visitors effectively.
To further help users, dedicated staff will be deployed in jail waiting areas to guide people through the online booking process. Moreover, special facilitation counters will be established for visitors who have already scheduled their meetings through the app.
Officials said that the mobile app is part of the government’s ongoing digital transformation efforts to modernize public services in Punjab. By integrating technology into prison management, the government aims to make the process more secure, efficient, and user-friendly.
