The National Logistics Corporation (NLC) has successfully launched its first-ever cargo transport service from China to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through Pakistan, utilizing the International Road Transport (TIR) system. The inaugural shipment, carrying electronic goods, left Kashgar, China, and is en route to Dubai’s Jebel Ali Port, marking a significant milestone in regional logistics.
This new route shortens the transit time to just 10 days, a vast improvement over the traditional 30-day sea route. The journey’s first leg concluded at the NLC Dry Port in Sost, Gilgit-Baltistan, where a ceremonial event was held to celebrate the launch. The event was attended by senior officials from the Gilgit-Baltistan government, customs authorities, and the local business community.

Leveraging Pakistan’s strategic location as a bridge between China and Gulf countries, this service provides an efficient and cost-effective alternative to maritime trade. The trucks will complete the Kashgar-to-Karachi leg in eight days, with the final leg to Dubai taking just two days by sea.
This new initiative strengthens the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and establishes the Khunjerab Pass as a vital year-round trade route. The business community has expressed strong support for the service, recognizing its potential to boost regional economic activity, diversify trade, and position Pakistan as a key logistics hub in the global market.
