Hyderabad: The Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has commenced commercial oil production at the Pasakhi Field in Hyderabad, officials confirmed on Wednesday. The development is expected to strengthen domestic energy output and reduce reliance on imports.
OGDCL stated that the Pasakhi Field has significant hydrocarbon reserves, and production will contribute to meeting local energy demand while generating revenue for the company and the government. The field’s operations include modern extraction facilities and infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient oil production.
Industry experts said the start of production at Pasakhi is a positive step for Pakistan’s energy sector, which has been focusing on enhancing indigenous oil and gas output to stabilize supply and prices. OGDCL plans to further explore and develop surrounding blocks to maximize production potential.
Officials emphasized that the project also includes measures to protect the environment and ensure operational safety, aligning with national energy and environmental standards.
