ISLAMABAD – The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a reduction in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) prices by up to 5.26 percent for January, providing relief to consumers and industries across Pakistan.
According to OGRA’s official notification on Friday, the LNG price on the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) system has been reduced by $0.57 per MMBTU. Meanwhile, consumers on the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) system will benefit from a $0.50 per MMBTU decrease.
Following the revision, the new LNG price for SNGPL consumers has been set at $10.41 per MMBTU. For SSGC customers, the revised rate stands at $10.21 per MMBTU. These adjustments come after careful calculations of international LNG costs, exchange rates, and other regulatory factors by OGRA.
This reduction follows OGRA’s earlier price cut for December, when LNG rates were lowered by up to 5.90 percent. The latest decrease continues the authority’s efforts to stabilize energy costs amid global fluctuations in natural gas prices.
OGRA emphasized that these changes are part of its mandate to ensure fair pricing and affordability for both industrial and household consumers. Officials noted that the move is expected to provide immediate financial relief to industries heavily dependent on LNG, as well as domestic users.
Industry analysts say the price cut may help reduce production costs in energy-intensive sectors and ease inflationary pressure in related markets. OGRA’s timely adjustment reflects the authority’s active monitoring of global LNG trends and its commitment to transparent regulation.
