The opposition alliance Tehreek-i-Tahafuz-i-Ayin-i-Pakistan (TTAP) continued its sit-in at the Parliament House for the third day on Sunday. The protest focuses on concerns regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan.
The sit-in began after the Supreme Court was informed that Imran Khan had lost 85 percent of sight in his right eye. TTAP demanded that he be shifted to a hospital of his personal doctors’ choice.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry had earlier confirmed that the government would move Imran Khan to a hospital and form a medical board. However, on Sunday morning, the PTI leader remained in Adiala Jail.
TTAP leaders, including Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, MNA Asad Qaiser, and Senator Faisal Javed, participated in the sit-in. Visuals shared by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan showed them sitting at Parliament House.
The alliance said the situation has become more complicated rather than being resolved smoothly. They stated that while they were initially told Imran Khan would be moved to Shifa International Hospital, the government asked them to change the doctors on the medical board. TTAP leaders showed flexibility by proposing additional names under the condition that their identities remain confidential.
Now, the alliance claims they have been told to call off the sit-in before the hospital transfer and medical board announcement. They said ending the protest without meeting their demands is not possible.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, who is also holding a sit-in at KP House in Islamabad, reportedly warned government representatives that the situation could worsen if not addressed immediately. Officials explained that the Interior Minister was in Sri Lanka and both National Assembly and Senate speakers were out of the country, delaying any decision.

TTAP Spokesperson Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai confirmed that the sit-in will continue until all demands regarding Imran Khan’s medical treatment are fulfilled.
