The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched an inquiry into the Padel Group, also known as the Mudassir Arain Group, over alleged unlawful activities.
An official notice states that the groupโs president, Muhammad Mateen, has been summoned to FIA Karachi on April 2 in connection with the investigation. The inquiry focuses on concerns regarding the groupโs conduct and claims related to the national padel federation.
In a separate development, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has rejected the affiliation application submitted by the Mudassir Arain Group. The decision came in compliance with directives from the Sindh High Court.
Officials explained that the affiliation application was denied due to regulatory violations and concerns tied to the groupโs alleged unlawful activities. The ruling aims to ensure that only compliant and legitimate entities manage national sports federations.
The PSB is now responsible for resolving competing claims regarding the formation of a recognized national padel federation in Pakistan. Authorities said the decision intends to create a unified structure for the sport, which has faced delays because of rival factions.
To ensure legal and regulatory continuity, the PSBโs ruling has been communicated to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan. This step is designed to align the recognized federation with proper governance and compliance standards.
Sports officials emphasized that rejecting the affiliation application does not prevent the development of padel in Pakistan. Instead, it ensures that the sport is governed by a legitimate, transparent body.
The decision is expected to clarify leadership disputes and enable smoother management of tournaments, player development, and international representation. Authorities hope this will strengthen padelโs presence and credibility in the country.
The ongoing FIA inquiry and PSB ruling highlight the governmentโs commitment to regulating national sports federations and preventing misuse of authority. Officials urge all stakeholders to cooperate for the sportโs proper governance.
By taking these steps, Pakistan aims to ensure that padel grows under a legally recognized and ethically managed federation, providing clarity and stability for players and administrators alike
