Pakistan Air Force has issued a public awareness message ahead of Eidul Azha, warning citizens against the improper disposal of sacrificial animal waste near populated areas and airbases.
In a video message shared by the force, the Pakistan Air Force highlighted that open dumping of animal remains and offal could create serious risks for aircraft operations. Officials urged people to follow proper waste disposal methods during the Eid holidays to help maintain public safety and aviation security.
According to the message, discarded animal waste often attracts large numbers of birds such as kites, crows, and other scavenging species. These birds gather around exposed waste and frequently move near runways and airfields.
The Pakistan Air Force explained that bird activity near airbases creates dangerous conditions for flight operations. Aircraft are especially vulnerable during takeoff and landing, when pilots have limited time to react to sudden bird movement near runways.
Officials warned that bird strikes can cause severe damage to aircraft engines and other important systems. In some cases, collisions between birds and aircraft can lead to emergency situations and operational disruptions.
The awareness message stressed that even a small increase in bird activity around airbases could affect aviation safety. Authorities said preventing improper disposal of sacrificial waste is an important step in reducing these risks during Eidul Azha.
The Pakistan Air Force appealed to citizens, local authorities, and municipal bodies to cooperate in keeping areas around airbases clean. People were advised to avoid throwing animal remains in open spaces, vacant plots, roadsides, and drainage channels.
Experts say bird strikes remain a major aviation concern around the world. Birds attracted by waste disposal sites can suddenly enter aircraft flight paths, particularly near airports and military airfields.
During Eidul Azha, large quantities of sacrificial waste are generated across cities and towns in Pakistan. If not managed properly, the waste can create environmental and health concerns in addition to aviation hazards.
Local governments in several cities usually launch special cleanliness operations during Eid to collect and dispose of animal waste safely. Authorities often encourage residents to use designated collection points and follow sanitation guidelines issued by municipal departments.
The Pakistan Air Force also advised people to remain aware of the broader impact of their actions during the Eid holidays. Officials said responsible waste disposal not only helps maintain cleanliness but also contributes to the safety of aircraft, passengers, and pilots.

The message comes as thousands of sacrificial animals are expected to be slaughtered across the country during Eidul Azha celebrations. Authorities are continuing awareness campaigns to ensure public cooperation in maintaining sanitation and aviation safety standards.
