The Islamic month of Zil-Qadah 1447 Hijri has officially started in Pakistan. This follows the confirmed sighting of the crescent moon across several regions of the country. Authorities announced the start of the new month after verified reports were received.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed that the Moon Sighted process was completed successfully. It announced that 1st Zil-Qadah will fall on Sunday, 19 April 2026. The decision was made after reviewing testimonies from multiple cities.
Officials stated that reliable reports of Moon Sighted conditions were received from different parts of Pakistan. After careful review, the committee approved the beginning of the new Islamic month.
Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad officially announced the sighting. He confirmed that the crescent moon of Zil-Qadah had been seen. This marked the official start of the holy month in the Islamic calendar.
The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) also provided technical support. It reported that the new moon was formed on 17 April at 4:52 PM. According to experts, the evening of 18 April had strong visibility conditions.
These favorable conditions helped ensure that the Moon Sighted confirmation process was successful. As a result, religious and administrative preparations have now moved forward across the country.
With the start of Zil-Qadah, Pakistan has entered an important period in the Islamic lunar calendar. This month leads up to major religious observances in the coming weeks.
Authorities also shared expectations for Eid ul-Adha 2026. The festival is likely to fall on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. However, final confirmation will depend on the next official Moon Sighted announcement by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
If the date is approved, a five-day holiday period may be granted. This could include Wednesday through Sunday for public and private sector employees. The announcement has already created early anticipation nationwide.
Meanwhile, preparations for Eid have begun in major cities. Cattle markets are active in Karachi, Lahore, and other urban centers. Livestock traders are bringing animals from different parts of the country.
However, experts warn that prices may increase this year. Rising feed costs and economic pressures are expected to impact market rates.
Overall, the confirmed Moon Sighted announcement marks the start of Zil-Qadah. It also sets the stage for upcoming religious and festive preparations across Pakistan.
