Major Moeez had served the Pakistan Army with distinction for 14 years and was highly respected for his strategic expertise and bravery in various counter-terrorism missions. He notably encountered Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman after the 2019 aerial skirmish, during which Abhinandan’s MiG-21 was downed. Major Moeez had shared in an earlier account how the pilot surrendered to him, introducing himself as an Indian Air Force Wing Commander and requesting safety.
Major Moeez is survived by his wife and two young sons.
Lance Naik Jibranullah had served for eight years and demonstrated exceptional bravery during the operation. He is survived by his wife and three children.
ISPR highlighted that the mission was initiated based on credible intelligence regarding hostile elements supported by India, aiming to disrupt peace in Pakistan. The military reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism, stating that such sacrifices only reinforce the nation’s determination to achieve lasting peace.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi offered their condolences and honored the bravery of the fallen soldiers. In a joint statement, the leadership expressed national pride in the martyrs, pledged continued support for their families, and reiterated the government’s resolve to combat terrorism across the country.
