Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Iran nuclear issue, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic engagement and sustained dialogue. The statement was made by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, during a Security Council briefing.
Welcoming the announcement of a ceasefire understanding between Iran and Israel, Ambassador Ahmad praised the efforts of those who facilitated the agreement. He expressed hope that this development would pave the way for lasting peace and stability in the region, which recently endured a 12-day air war.

Meanwhile, a preliminary assessment by U.S. intelligence suggests that recent American airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities only delayed Tehran’s nuclear program by a few months, contradicting President Donald Trump’s claim that the attacks had “obliterated” it. The strikes were part of the broader conflict between Iran and Israel, during which the U.S. joined in targeting Iran’s uranium-enrichment sites.
Despite both Iran and Israel lifting civilian restrictions and signaling an end to hostilities, the situation remains fragile. Observers note that while the ceasefire has taken hold for now, underlying tensions and unresolved issues could reignite conflict.
