Pakistan, China Boost Agricultural Cooperation Through High-Tech Farming Initiatives

Pakistan and China have taken new steps to strengthen agricultural cooperation during a recent high-level visit. Pakistanโ€™s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, visited Shouguang city in Shandong province to explore new opportunities.

The visit took place on April 19-20 and focused on improving farming practices. It also aimed to promote investment in modern agricultural technologies. The initiative highlights growing agricultural cooperation between the two countries.

During the visit, the ambassador attended the 27th China International Vegetable Science and Technology Expo. Pakistan was honored as the Guest Country at the event. The recognition marked 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

Shouguang is widely known for its advanced farming systems. The city is often called Chinaโ€™s โ€œHometown of Vegetables.โ€ It is famous for smart greenhouse technology and efficient agricultural production.

Ambassador Hashmi met with Mayor Zhao Tianbao during his visit. The mayor shared details about Shouguangโ€™s modern farming systems. Both sides discussed ways to expand agricultural cooperation through technology transfer and investment.

The ambassador highlighted Pakistanโ€™s strong agricultural potential. He also stressed the need for modern tools and systems to improve productivity. Discussions included setting up smart greenhouse projects in Pakistan.

Hashmi also visited Shandong Lisente Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd.. He observed advanced greenhouse systems and climate-resilient farming methods. These systems help increase crop yields and improve efficiency.

Experts discussed launching pilot projects in Pakistan. These projects may focus on protected farming and high-tech agriculture. Such steps could strengthen long-term agricultural cooperation.

On April 20, the ambassador inaugurated the Pakistan National Pavilion at the expo. The pavilion displayed various Pakistani products. These included basmati rice, pink salt, pine nuts, and handicrafts.

Speaking at the event, Hashmi invited Chinese companies to invest in Pakistan. He highlighted opportunities in greenhouse technology and sustainable farming systems. He said both countries can benefit from stronger agricultural cooperation.

He also pointed out ongoing joint projects between Pakistan and Shandong province. These include research programs and training initiatives. Such partnerships are helping farmers learn modern techniques.

The ambassador stressed key areas for future collaboration. These include irrigation systems, seed development, and cold-chain logistics. He also mentioned post-harvest processing and digital agriculture.

Hashmi encouraged Chinese businesses to explore Pakistanโ€™s Special Economic Zones. He assured support for joint ventures and partnerships. He also proposed knowledge-sharing programs and exchange visits.

The visit shows a shared commitment to innovation and sustainability. It reflects a strong push to expand agricultural cooperation between Pakistan and China in the coming years.
