The Mission stated that Pakistan’s election to the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) is a reflection of the international community’s trust and confidence in its commitment to combating drug-related challenges. Pakistan reaffirmed its dedication to contributing actively to global initiatives against drug abuse and trafficking.

Over the years, Pakistan has consistently taken a leading role in international efforts to combat drug production, trafficking, and abuse. The country has implemented significant measures to curb drug smuggling and has promoted policies to discourage drug use.

The CND serves as the key policymaking body within the UN system for drug control. It plays a crucial role in establishing global drug policies, overseeing trends in narcotic and psychotropic substances, and fostering international cooperation to address drug-related issues worldwide.

Pakistan has maintained a strong and positive presence in UN forums discussing drug policies. Its continued participation is expected to further enhance regional collaboration, reinforce border security initiatives, and support development programs aimed at reducing drug cultivation.
