Pakistan Wonโ€™t Retreat from Counter-Terrorism Stance: Khawaja Asif

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif reaffirmed Pakistanโ€™s firm commitment to its counter-terrorism stance, saying the country will not step back from its mission to eliminate terrorism in all its forms.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Asif emphasized that Pakistan has paid a heavy price in its fight against terrorism, losing thousands of lives, including civilians and security personnel. He said that despite challenges, Pakistan remains determined to ensure long-term stability and peace across the region.

Khawaja Asif stated that terrorist groups attempting to destabilize Pakistan will be dealt with decisively. He also called on neighboring countries to cooperate and prevent their territories from being used for cross-border terrorism.

The minister highlighted that Pakistanโ€™s armed forces and intelligence agencies are fully capable of countering any threat. โ€œWe have made great sacrifices, and we will not let them go in vain,โ€ he asserted.

Asif added that the government is also working to strengthen border management and enhance intelligence coordination. The counter-terrorism policy, he noted, is not only a security necessity but also essential for the countryโ€™s economic recovery and regional credibility.

The statement from Khawaja Asif comes amid renewed concerns over militant activity along the Afghan border. Security experts say the reaffirmation signals Islamabadโ€™s resolve to maintain a strong and proactive approach toward national and regional security.
