Atta Tarar Confirms 133 Afghan Taliban Fighters Killed in Pakistan Retaliatory Strikes

Pakistan Launches Retaliatory Strikes on Taliban

Pakistan launched retaliatory strikes against the Afghan Taliban following unprovoked firing along the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border. The attacks occurred on Friday night, February 26, 2026, at around 10:30 pm.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, confirmed that 133 Taliban fighters were killed, and more than 200 were injured in Pakistanโ€™s retaliatory action. He emphasized that the strikes were a defensive response to the Talibanโ€™s cross-border aggression.

Speaking to ARY News, Tarar stated that the operation, named โ€˜Ghazab Lil Haqโ€™, targeted key Afghan Taliban installations in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar. He noted that two corps headquarters, three brigade headquarters, and multiple battalion and sector headquarters were destroyed. In addition, two ammunition depots and a logistics base were hit.

The minister also mentioned that 27 Taliban posts were destroyed, and nine were captured during the retaliatory strikes. He claimed more than 80 tanks, artillery guns, and armored vehicles of the Afghan Taliban were obliterated.

Security sources reported that the Pakistan Air Force continued operations in Kandahar, with fighter jets patrolling the region after air strikes. They confirmed the destruction of the Paktia 205 Corps headquarters.

Tarar highlighted that the strikes demonstrated Pakistanโ€™s readiness to respond decisively to any threats. โ€œOur retaliatory strikes are ongoing and effective, targeting all strategic Taliban positions,โ€ he added.

The operation has raised tensions along the border, but Pakistani officials maintain that all actions are defensive and aimed at neutralizing threats from across the frontier. Pakistan continues to monitor the situation closely to prevent further aggression and ensure national security.

The retaliatory strikes signal Pakistanโ€™s commitment to defending its territory and maintaining a strong response to cross-border attacks.
