Pakistan’s refineries produced 92,482 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) during July and August of FY27. The figures make LPG the largest non-energy petroleum product by production volume during the period.

According to oil sector data, LPG accounted for approximately 49.5% of the combined output of reported non-energy petroleum products. The figures highlight its significant share in Pakistan’s refinery production.

Asphalt ranked second, with production reaching 30,981 tonnes. This represented 16.6% of the total reported output. Lubricant oil production reached 23,003 tonnes, accounting for another 12.3%.

Pakistan LPG Production in July and August FY27

Refineries produced several other non-energy petroleum products during the first two months of FY27. Naphtha production reached 15,143 tonnes, while sulphur output stood at 11,746 tonnes.

Extracted oil production totalled 10,097 tonnes during the same period. Refineries also produced 1,762 tonnes of wax and 1,625 tonnes of MTT.

Solvent production remained comparatively low at 124 tonnes. However, the reported figures showed no production of bitumen cut-back, BTX, or jute batching oil during these two months.

The production data provides an overview of the different petroleum products manufactured by Pakistan’s refineries. It also shows the substantial contribution of LPG to the reported non-energy product output.

Annual LPG Production Increased in FY26

The latest figures follow an increase in annual LPG production during the previous fiscal year. Pakistan’s refineries produced 521,895 tonnes of LPG in FY26, compared with 451,989 tonnes in FY25.

This represents an increase of approximately 15.5% year over year. The figures indicate higher refinery production of LPG during FY26.

Lubricant oil production also increased during the same period. Output rose from 114,297 tonnes in FY25 to 143,166 tonnes in FY26.

Meanwhile, annual asphalt production reached 209,419 tonnes in FY26. Sulphur production stood at 58,294 tonnes, while extracted oil output totalled 49,063 tonnes.

Naphtha Production Declines Despite Growth in Other Products

Not all petroleum products recorded an increase in annual production. Naphtha output declined to 165,685 tonnes in FY26 from 294,944 tonnes in FY25.

Despite growth in several individual categories, total non-energy petroleum product output decreased slightly. Production fell from 1,198,895 tonnes in FY25 to 1,188,683 tonnes in FY26.

These figures show different production trends across Pakistan’s refinery product categories. Some products recorded annual growth, while others experienced declines.

Importance of LPG for Pakistani Consumers

LPG remains an important fuel for households and businesses across Pakistan. Consumers rely on it for cooking and commercial activities, particularly in areas without access to pipeline natural gas.

Refinery production is an important part of the country’s domestic LPG supply. However, these figures do not represent Pakistan’s total LPG availability.

Other sources also contribute to the domestic supply. Therefore, refinery output alone cannot determine overall availability or future market prices.
