Pakistan has reiterated its right to take all necessary measures in self-defence under the United Nations Charter, according to Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan during a weekly press briefing in Islamabad. The statement follows a recent unprovoked attack by India, which Pakistan firmly condemned, denying any involvement in the Pahalgam incident cited as justification for the assault.
Khan criticized India’s actions as reckless and unlawful, questioning whether a country can legitimately attack another based solely on social media narratives. He warned that such aggressive behavior has dangerously escalated tensions, placing two nuclear-armed nations on a direct collision course and threatening regional peace.

The spokesperson also addressed India’s attempts to undermine the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it an attack on the people of Pakistan and emphasizing that the treaty cannot be unilaterally revoked. He further denounced the Indian Foreign Secretary’s undiplomatic rhetoric and accused India of destabilizing its smaller neighbors while fueling war hysteria through state-backed media.
Khan concluded by highlighting India’s alleged involvement in cross-border terrorism and drone strikes on Pakistani cities, which have resulted in civilian casualties. He urged the international community to hold India accountable for its hostile and unlawful actions.
