Pakistan Rejects India’s Water Dominance, Calls It a Red Line: Field Marshal

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir praised educators as Pakistan’s greatest asset during an interactive session with university vice chancellors, principals, and senior teachers. Speaking at the ‘Hilal Talks’ held at the Army Auditorium, he emphasized the crucial role teachers play in nation-building, stating, “Whatever I am today is due to my parents and teachers.” He stressed that it is the duty of educators to instill strong character in future generations and convey Pakistan’s true narrative.

He highlighted that Pakistan, with divine support, has overcome major trials, saying, “No force on earth can harm us if we remain united like an iron wall.”

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the session involved meaningful discussions on regional, national, and global matters. Around 1,800 members of the education community participated, including many students who joined virtually. Special participation came from students in Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Field Marshal Munir called on educational institutions to become centers of intellectual development, promoting critical thinking and national unity based on peace, development, and stability. Acknowledging the challenges in higher education—such as quality, access, and research—he pledged support for government efforts to enhance academic standards and foster innovation.

Unwavering Stance on Kashmir

Reasserting Pakistan’s firm position on Kashmir, Gen Munir declared, “There will be no compromise on Kashmir. Pakistan will never forsake the Kashmiri people.” He condemned India’s continuous attempts to suppress the issue, saying, “India has failed to bury the Kashmir truth, and the world now recognizes it as a global issue.” He also labeled terrorism as an internal matter for India, driven by rising oppression and discrimination, especially against Muslims.

Water Rights and National Sovereignty

Addressing water security, Field Marshal Munir declared that Pakistan considers water a non-negotiable right. “We will never accept India’s control over our water. The rights of 240 million Pakistanis cannot be violated,” he warned.

He also denounced anti-state elements in Balochistan, stating that “Fitna-ul-Hindustan” represents foreign-backed militants who do not reflect the Baloch people’s values.

Advocating for Institutional Harmony

The army chief stressed the need for a Pakistan rooted in institutional integrity, the rule of law, and constitutional governance. “We must work towards a system where all institutions function for the people’s welfare—free of political manipulation, personal agendas, or financial interests,” he stated.

He urged all citizens, especially educators, to reject divisive narratives that undermine national unity.

The event concluded with a spirited slogan from the audience: “Ye jo mehfooz dharti hai, iske peeche wardi hai” (This land is safe because of the uniform that guards it).

Gen Munir also met with attendees and personally engaged with their questions and concerns during a Q&A session. He emphasized the importance of initiatives like ‘Hilal Talks’ in fostering meaningful discussions and national cooperation. Participants pledged their continued support in building a stronger, more unified, and progressive Pakistan.
