Pakistan Resumes Flight Operations in Lahore and Karachi After Airspace Closure

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has lifted its earlier 48-hour airspace closure, allowing flight operations to resume in major cities like Lahore and Karachi. The initial restriction, imposed due to heightened regional tensions, was lifted following the issuance of a new NOTAM by the CAA, reopening affected air corridors for both domestic and international flights.

The CAA emphasized that while flight operations are now restored, airlines will determine their schedules and routes. Passengers were advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for any updates regarding flight times or changes.

Airports, including Karachi’s Jinnah International and Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International, have resumed regular operations, though flight schedules may still be adjusted based on individual airline assessments.

Previously, Pakistan had temporarily shut down airspace, halting all flights from airports across the country, including Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Quetta. Islamabad International Airport was also closed, and flights were rerouted to Karachi. The CAA had stated that operations would return to normal once the situation stabilized.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had canceled all flights for the following 12 hours, citing security concerns, and urged passengers to stay updated through PIA’s call centers. Sialkot International Airport also temporarily suspended operations, prioritizing public safety in light of the ongoing situation.
