Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at Yamama Palace on Wednesday. The meeting focused on enhancing multifaceted relations rooted in economic, strategic, and Islamic ties.
Shehbaz Sharif was welcomed with a guard of honour, and the Saudi Air Force escorted his plane with F-15 jets upon entering Saudi airspace, symbolizing βbrotherly respect,β according to PTV News.
The defence deal formalizes Pakistanβs commitment to Saudi Arabiaβs security. Under its terms, any external attack on either nation will be considered an attack on both, enhancing joint defence capabilities.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir played a key role in finalizing the agreement, highlighting Pakistanβs active participation in regional security.
Accompanying Prime Minister Sharif were Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Environment Minister Musadik Malik, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi. Their presence reflects the visitβs importance in consolidating economic, energy, and defence collaboration.
The visit also included discussions on Saudi financial aid, oil supplies, and broader economic cooperation. Officials emphasized the shared commitment to regional stability and the promotion of peace.
