The Pakistan Army conducted large-scale military exercises on Thursday, underlining its combat preparedness and showcasing modern battlefield capabilities as tensions with neighbouring India continue to escalate. The drills featured live-fire demonstrations and advanced weapon systems, aiming to convey a strong deterrent message against potential aggression.
Troops and officers from multiple units participated in the exercises, demonstrating high-level operational proficiency with cutting-edge equipment. According to security sources, the drills were carefully designed to ensure a swift and decisive response to any hostile actions.
These maneuvers came a day after Pakistan carried out retaliatory strikes, destroying an Indian checkpost in response to unprovoked small-arms fire along the Line of Control in the Kiani and Mandal sectors. Officials confirmed that enemy positions, including the Chakputra post in Indian Illegally-Administered Jammu and Kashmir, were effectively neutralised.
Amid rising tensions since the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, both countries have engaged in tit-for-tat diplomatic and strategic moves. While India has revoked treaties and suspended visas, Pakistan has expelled diplomats and hinted at suspending key bilateral agreements. Islamabad has firmly denied involvement in the Pahalgam incident and expressed readiness for a transparent investigation.
