Pakistan Plans to Resume Direct Flights to US After UK Clearance

Pakistan Plans to Resume Direct Flights to US After UK Clearance

The government has confirmed that Pakistan plans to resume direct flights to US after UK clearance, marking a major step toward restoring global air connectivity. The move comes after years of restrictions imposed following the licensing scandal in 2020.

Officials from the Ministry of Aviation said that the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) is now working closely with international regulators to meet safety and operational standards. The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is expected to submit its compliance reports soon, paving the way for US authorities to consider reopening direct flight routes.

The development follows the UK’s recent decision to lift its restrictions on Pakistani airlines. Aviation experts believe that this clearance has strengthened Pakistan’s case for the resumption of transatlantic flights. The Pakistan plans to resume direct flights to US after UK clearance initiative is seen as a significant achievement for the national carrier and the country’s aviation sector.

According to officials, discussions with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are already underway. Once the review process concludes, direct flights between Pakistan and major US cities such as New York, Houston, and Chicago could resume.

Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique expressed optimism about the progress, saying that the government is committed to meeting all international safety requirements. β€œWe are determined to restore PIA’s credibility and expand our global routes,” he said.

Industry analysts have welcomed the development, stating that the Pakistan plans to resume direct flights to US after UK clearance will benefit thousands of Pakistani expatriates living in America. It will also boost business and tourism between the two nations.

The resumption of direct flights would significantly reduce travel time and improve convenience for passengers. It is also expected to enhance Pakistan’s image in the international aviation community.

If all goes as planned, direct Pakistan-US flights could restart in 2026, following final safety audits and bilateral agreements.
