Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia have convened in Istanbul for the first high-level meeting of the Makkah Defence Alliance.
Senior political and military leaders from the three countries are attending the important gathering. The meeting aims to develop a strategic roadmap for the new alliance.
Ahead of the meeting, Turkish Defence Minister Yaลar Gรผler held separate discussions with Pakistanโs Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif.

Saudi Arabia has also sent a senior delegation to Istanbul. Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud is attending the meeting.
Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is also participating. Chief of General Staff General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili completes the Saudi delegation.
The first meeting is expected to give the alliance its initial strategic direction. Leaders are likely to discuss political coordination and military cooperation mechanisms.
