The Peshawar Police has introduced a state-of-the-art surveillance drone equipped with an advanced laser targeting system, marking a major step forward in police technology and operational efficiency.
According to the Central Police Office (CPO), the newly developed drone was successfully tested at the Nowshera Police Centre on Thursday. The test confirmed the droneβs high performance and readiness for field deployment.
The cutting-edge drone can operate within a 10-kilometer range and carry a payload of up to 10 kilograms. It is equipped with night-vision cameras, tear gas canisters, and can even carry mortar rounds for specialized missions. Measuring nearly two meters in length and weighing around 55 kilograms, the drone can fly for up to one hour at a speed of 36 kilometers per hour, reaching an altitude of 1,000 meters.
Officials said this innovation will play a crucial role in counterterrorism operations, search and rescue missions, and crowd management. The droneβs ability to provide real-time visuals and precision targeting will help officers make faster and more accurate decisions during critical situations.
Police authorities believe the new surveillance drone will enhance situational awareness and significantly improve response times during emergencies. Its advanced features make it suitable for both urban and rural operations, offering greater coverage and operational flexibility.
A spokesperson for the department stated that the introduction of this high-tech equipment places the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police among Pakistanβs most modern and technologically advanced law enforcement agencies. The initiative demonstrates the policeβs commitment to integrating innovation into security and public safety efforts.
The launch of this new surveillance drone highlights the growing use of technology in policing and the provinceβs efforts to strengthen security infrastructure through modern tools and smart solutions.
