Petrol Price in Pakistan Crosses Rs414 After Fresh Increase

Petrol Price in Pakistan Crosses Rs414 After Fresh Increase

The government has announced another major fuel adjustment, pushing the Petrol Price in Pakistan above Rs414 per litre. The latest increase became effective from May 9 and is expected to impact transportation and daily living costs across the country.

According to the revised rates, the Petrol Price increased by Rs14.92 per litre. Petrol now costs Rs414.78 per litre compared to the previous price of around Rs399.86. High-speed diesel also saw a major increase of Rs15, reaching Rs414.58 per litre.

This latest rise has added financial pressure on households already struggling with inflation. Experts believe the higher Petrol Price will directly affect middle- and lower-income families. Petrol is widely used in motorcycles, rickshaws, and private vehicles for daily travel.

The increase is also expected to raise transport fares in many cities. Daily commuting costs may become more expensive for workers, students, and businesses. Public transport operators are also likely to revise fares due to higher fuel expenses.

Meanwhile, the increase in diesel prices may affect several important sectors. High-speed diesel is commonly used in heavy transport vehicles, agriculture machinery, and industrial generators. As a result, higher diesel costs could increase prices of goods and services nationwide.

Earlier this month, the government had already increased fuel prices. Petrol rose by Rs6.51 per litre, while diesel increased by Rs19.39. Those changes brought petrol to Rs399.86 and diesel to Rs399.58 per litre before the latest revision.

Economic analysts warn that another increase in Petrol Price may contribute to inflation in the coming weeks. Rising fuel costs usually affect food prices, transportation charges, and production expenses across multiple industries.

Citizens have also expressed concern over the continuous increase in fuel prices. Many fear that higher transportation costs will further increase household expenses. Small business owners and transporters are also expected to face operational difficulties.

The government has not yet announced any relief measures following the latest hike. However, the sharp rise in Petrol Price continues to remain a major concern for consumers and businesses throughout Pakistan.
