The federal government has raised petrol and diesel prices for the next 24 hours. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) confirmed the update on Thursday.
Petrol prices increased by Rs. 2.84. It now costs Rs. 349 per litre. Diesel prices rose by Rs. 2.28. It is now priced at Rs. 374.31 per litre.
This is the second straight day of hikes. On Wednesday, petrol went up by Rs. 2.29 to Rs. 346.16 per litre. Diesel rose by Rs. 1.11 to Rs. 372.03 per litre.
A Steady Upward Trend
Since daily fuel pricing began, petrol has climbed by Rs. 37.7 per litre. Diesel has increased by Rs. 44.8 per litre over the same period.
The rise has been mostly steady, with only small dips along the way. Prices have gone from around Rs. 310 per litre in mid-July to nearly Rs. 350 now.
Diesel has followed a similar pattern. It moved from Rs. 323 per litre in July to over Rs. 374 today.
What This Means for Consumers
Daily fuel price updates were introduced to reflect global oil market changes. This system replaces the older fortnightly pricing model.
The frequent increases have made it harder for consumers to plan expenses. Transport costs, in particular, are being affected daily.
Petrol is a key fuel used by most private vehicle owners across the country. Even small increases can affect household budgets significantly.
