Petrol Shortage Fears Rise in Punjab After Fuel Supply Disruptions

Petrol Shortage Fears Rise in Punjab After Fuel Supply Disruptions

LAHORE: Concerns over a possible Petrol Shortage have increased across Punjab after fuel deliveries were disrupted at major oil depots. The interruption has affected petrol stations in Lahore and several other cities, creating uncertainty about fuel availability.

According to industry sources, inspections and raids carried out by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Pakistan Customs delayed the clearance and dispatch of oil tankers. The inspections took place at key oil depots, slowing the normal supply process and preventing tankers from reaching petrol pumps on time.

The delayed dispatch has already impacted many filling stations. Several petrol pumps in Lahore reportedly did not receive their scheduled fuel deliveries on Friday. As a result, station operators have started relying on their remaining fuel stocks to continue serving customers.

Petrol pump owners warned that available fuel reserves may only last for a limited time. If regular deliveries do not resume quickly, the risk of a Petrol Shortage could increase across Lahore and other districts of Punjab. Motorists may also experience difficulty finding fuel in the coming days.

Industry officials said no oil tanker was dispatched from the Mahmood Kot and Ghatti oil depots throughout the day. These two depots normally send more than 150 oil tankers every day. Their supplies support petrol stations across Punjab as well as other parts of Pakistan.

Officials also claimed that by Friday morning, not a single tanker from either depot had reached any petrol station. This situation has raised fresh concerns about the continuity of fuel supplies and the ability of filling stations to meet customer demand.

Another factor has also contributed to the current situation. Petrol pump sources said many station owners placed smaller fuel orders than usual. They expected the government to announce a reduction in petrol prices during the latest fuel price review. Because of this expectation, some owners preferred not to purchase larger quantities at existing prices.

The combination of delayed tanker dispatches and reduced fuel orders has increased the possibility of a Petrol Shortage in several areas. Industry insiders believe the situation could worsen if fuel transportation does not return to normal soon.

So far, the authorities have not released an official statement regarding the reported supply disruption. They have also not confirmed whether a widespread fuel shortage is expected.

Consumers and petrol pump operators are now closely monitoring the situation. Many are hoping that tanker movement resumes soon to prevent further disruptions and ensure a steady fuel supply across Punjab.
