PIA Class B Shares Skyrocket Over Rs 18,000 in One Month, PSX Seeks Explanation

In an unexpected twist during Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) ongoing privatization process, the price of its Class B shares has surged by more than Rs18,000 in just one month — rising sharply from Rs4,000 to over Rs22,000 per share.

This unusual and steep increase has triggered alarm bells at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), leading the regulatory body to formally seek clarification from PIA Holding Company regarding the sudden spike.

In response, PIA stated it has no knowledge of any internal or external factors that could explain the dramatic surge. The airline further added that it does not possess any undisclosed information relevant to the price movement.

The situation has raised questions about market speculation, insider activity, or investor confidence linked to the airline’s privatization, though no official cause has yet been identified.
