PIA Flights Cancelled and Delayed Amid Salary Dispute

PIA Flights Cancelled and Delayed Amid Salary Dispute

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is facing flight disruptions due to an ongoing dispute between its aircraft engineers and management, local media reported. The work stoppage has affected both domestic and international flights, causing delays and cancellations.

Flights from Karachi to Dubai and Multan were canceled, while Karachi-to-Lahore, Quetta, and Medina flights experienced delays. Incoming flights are also impacted, including the Lahore-to-Karachi service and a flight from Islamabad to Skardu, which could not depart on schedule.

The aircraft engineers claim that PIA has failed to fulfill commitments regarding salaries, allowances, and service structure. They insist that their protest is aimed at securing their rightful entitlements and improving working conditions.

Meanwhile, PIA management has expressed concern over the disruption, stating that delaying flights affects passengers and damages the airline’s reputation. Officials emphasized that operational delays create financial and logistical challenges for the airline.

Sources indicate that negotiations between the engineers and PIA management are ongoing. However, if the issues are not resolved promptly, more flight cancellations and delays are likely. Travelers have been urged to check their flight status and remain patient as talks continue.

Industry experts note that prolonged disputes in airlines can affect tourism, business travel, and overall confidence in the national carrier. PIA has a critical role in connecting Pakistan domestically and internationally, making the resolution of this conflict urgent.
