ISLAMABAD – Pakistan International Airlines has announced a major expansion in its UK network. The airline is set to launch a new PIA Flight service from Lahore to Manchester.
The new route will begin operations on July 3. It marks another step in restoring PIA’s international presence. The airline aims to strengthen its position in the UK market.
According to officials, the PIA Flight will operate using a Boeing 777 aircraft. The service will offer a direct, nonstop connection between Lahore and Manchester. This will improve travel convenience for passengers.
The airline has set the one-way economy fare at Rs155,000. This pricing is aimed at providing a structured option for long-haul travelers.
The launch of this PIA Flight comes after the airline resumed Lahore–London operations earlier this year. That service restarted on March 30. It signaled PIA’s renewed focus on expanding its international routes.
A spokesperson said PIA is working to increase its flight network in the United Kingdom. The goal is to serve the large Pakistani community living in Britain.
The new PIA Flight is expected to benefit passengers traveling for business, education, and family visits. It will also help reduce travel time for passengers heading to northern England.
Officials said the expansion is part of a wider strategy. The airline is rebuilding its global operations after years of restrictions.
PIA had faced a major setback in 2020. Flight operations were suspended in several regions after safety concerns were raised. This followed a crash in Karachi that killed 97 people.
Investigations led to strict international restrictions on the airline. Aviation regulators in the UK and Europe raised concerns over pilot licensing and safety standards.
In response, Pakistan introduced major aviation reforms. These included stricter safety checks and verification of pilot records. Regulatory improvements were also implemented.
After several years of review, restrictions were gradually lifted. European authorities allowed PIA to resume operations in late 2024.
The UK followed in 2025 after reviewing Pakistan’s progress. PIA restarted services to Britain, including routes from Islamabad.
