PM Shehbaz Urges Malaysian Firms To Explore Opportunities In Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged Malaysian businesses to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s fast-growing economy, highlighting the country’s focus on innovation, technology, and trade.

During a meeting in Kuala Lumpur with a delegation from Malaysia’s top business group, Gobi Partners, led by its co-founder and chairman Thomas Tsao, the Prime Minister emphasized the strong potential for cooperation between the two nations. He said Pakistan and Malaysia share close economic and cultural ties and can further enhance collaboration across multiple sectors.

Shehbaz Sharif noted that the recently held Pakistan-Malaysia Business and Investment Conference was a major step toward strengthening business-to-business partnerships. He added that Pakistan’s government is committed to improving the ease of doing business and providing all necessary support to foreign investors through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

The Prime Minister praised Gobi Partners for showing confidence in Pakistan’s startup ecosystem. He said the government is implementing reforms to promote entrepreneurship and encourage both local and international investors to explore opportunities in emerging industries.

Highlighting the role of technology in national development, Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan’s digital economy offers significant potential in fintech, e-commerce, and IT services. He invited global investors to explore opportunities in artificial intelligence, software development, and digital finance.

The Gobi Partners delegation expressed interest in collaborating with Pakistan in the fields of e-commerce and financial technology. They also appreciated the country’s progress in creating a supportive environment for innovation and investment.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and other senior officials.
