Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of four Pakistani nationals in a tragic boat capsizing incident off the Harawa coast near Sirte City in eastern Libya. The mishap occurred on April 12, with a total of 11 bodies recovered so far by rescue teams.
According to a communiquรฉ from Pakistanโs embassy in Tripoli, a team was dispatched to Sirte, where the identities of the four Pakistanis were confirmed through national identification documents. Three of the deceased were from Mandi Bahauddin, while the fourth hailed from Gujranwala.

In a message shared on his official X account, the prime minister voiced his sadness, stating, โDeeply saddened by reports from our Mission in Tripoli of yet another boat capsizing incident… in which at least four Pakistanis have been confirmed dead out of 11 casualties.โ
PM Shehbaz also assured that Pakistanโs Mission in Tripoli, along with the Foreign Office, is coordinating with Libyan authorities to recover the victimsโ remains and facilitate communication with their families.
Reaffirming his stance against human trafficking, the prime minister pledged to intensify efforts to eliminate such networks. โWe will continue to come down hard on such elements so that no family has to carry the coffins of their loved ones in such accidents,โ he said.
