PM Shehbaz Sharif Receives Grand Welcome in Beijing as Pak-China Talks Enter Crucial Phase

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Beijing on Monday and received a grand ceremonial welcome at the Great Hall of the People during his official visit to China. The visit comes as Pakistan and China celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations and continue discussions on regional cooperation and global developments.

Shehbaz Sharif was welcomed with full state honours by Chinese Premier Li Qiang. Both leaders greeted each other warmly before introducing members of their official delegations. The national anthems of Pakistan and China were played during the ceremony as the two leaders stood together at the salute dais.

The high-level meeting highlighted the importance of relations between the two neighbouring countries. Officials described the visit as a key diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in several sectors.

A notable figure present during the event was Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir. He joined the Pakistani delegation after completing a recent visit to Iran. Reports said he traveled overnight to attend the important meetings in Beijing.

During delegation-level talks, Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Chinese leadership for the warm hospitality extended to the Pakistani delegation. He praised China’s rapid economic development and said Pakistan admires the country’s transformation and progress over the years.

Shehbaz Sharif also emphasized the historical importance of the relationship between Islamabad and Beijing. He said the two countries are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic ties built on trust, cooperation, and mutual support.

The prime minister described the current global situation as highly sensitive and fragile. He referred to rising tensions in the Middle East and Gulf region and stressed the importance of diplomacy and peace efforts.

Speaking during the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan had played a sincere role in supporting mediation efforts between the United States and Iran. He added that Pakistan continues to support dialogue and peaceful solutions to regional conflicts.

He also mentioned the role of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in diplomatic coordination efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region. According to the prime minister, Pakistan hopes recent progress will help restore peace and stability.

The Pakistani premier warned that ongoing conflicts are affecting not only regional security but also the global economy. He urged greater international cooperation to restore normal economic activities and improve stability worldwide.

Following his remarks, formal discussions between the Pakistani and Chinese delegations continued. Several matters related to regional cooperation, economic partnerships, and diplomatic coordination were reportedly discussed during the talks.
