During an official visit to Tajikistan, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif called on the international community to hold India accountable for its recent actions, which he described as violations of international law and the UN Charter. In a meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistanโs commitment to peace but underscored the nation’s resolve to defend its sovereignty if provoked.
President Rahmon expressed concern over the events of early May and praised PM Shehbaz’s leadership for promoting regional peace. The two leaders agreed on the urgent need for peaceful conflict resolution, including the long-standing Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in line with UN Security Council resolutions. They also committed to closer coordination on matters of regional and global stability.

The leaders reviewed bilateral ties and explored new areas of cooperation, particularly in trade, energy, IT, education, and cultural exchange. They reaffirmed commitment to the CASA-1000 energy project and agreed to accelerate economic collaboration through established institutional mechanisms, including twelve joint working groups.
PM Shehbaz also highlighted Pakistanโs growing engagement with Central Asia, presenting CPEC as a crucial link for regional connectivity. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with multilateral cooperation and agreed to intensify efforts in combating security challenges such as terrorism and organized crime. The visit concluded with PM Shehbaz inviting President Rahmon to Islamabad for further strategic dialogue.
