PM Shehbaz Thanks Trump for US-Pakistan Trade Deal

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has thanked former US President Donald Trump for helping finalize a significant trade deal. The prime minister called it a “historic” moment for the growing relationship between the United States and Pakistan.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), PM Shehbaz said the deal would strengthen bilateral ties. He praised Trump’s leadership and expressed hope for deeper cooperation in the future.

The trade deal was officially announced by Donald Trump on Truth Social earlier this week. It includes tariff cuts, improved access for Pakistani exports, and plans for joint oil exploration in Pakistan.

“We’ve finalized a big trade deal with Pakistan,” Trump posted. “We’ll extract so much oil that we may even sell it to India.”

The agreement was signed in Washington during a high-level meeting between Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer was also present.

According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Finance, the deal will promote economic cooperation in several sectors. These include energy, minerals, cryptocurrency, and information technology.

One of the significant points of the agreement is the joint development of oil reserves in Pakistan. Trump said the US is now selecting a global oil company to lead this effort. He also assured that the project will follow principles of transparency and mutual trust.

Officials believe this deal will create new export opportunities for Pakistan. It could also attract foreign investment by offering better tariff terms.

PM Shehbaz stated the agreement will help expand Pakistan’s long-term economic partnership with the US. He emphasized that this is just the beginning of deeper cooperation between the two nations.

The announcement comes at a time when Trump has introduced new trade measures with other countries. He recently imposed a 25% tariff on Indian imports and may announce a deal with China in August.
