The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Wednesday issued a warning about severe heat and dry weather conditions expected to impact most regions of the country. Citizens have been advised to take preventive measures as temperatures continue to rise sharply.
The PMD advisory noted that daytime temperatures could climb between 45°C and 50°C in various districts, especially between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., the peak heat hours. The intense weather is likely to persist in the coming days, with no significant rainfall expected in major cities.

Islamabad and its nearby areas are forecast to remain extremely hot and dry, while Lahore and other parts of Punjab will face similar conditions. Lahore may see temperatures hit 46°C under intense sunlight, and no rain is currently predicted for the region.
Dusty and strong afternoon winds are expected in Punjab’s plains, which could intensify the heat.
In Sindh and Balochistan, particularly the plains of Balochistan, most districts are expected to face dangerously high temperatures. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s plains will also experience scorching weather, though light rainfall is forecast in the province’s northern regions such as Chitral, Dir, and Swat. Despite these showers, the overall weather will remain hot and dry.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to witness similar harsh conditions, with no significant relief in sight.
Authorities have urged people—especially vulnerable groups like children, the elderly, and women—to stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day, drink plenty of fluids, and wear light, breathable clothing to avoid heat-related health issues. Health experts have also advised avoiding unnecessary travel and keeping an eye on symptoms of heat exhaustion.
