Sindh Police Admit Anmol Pinky Was Arrested in Lahore, Not Karachi

The Sindh Assemblyโ€™s Standing Committee on Home Affairs has directed authorities to expand operations against drug rehabilitation facilities and narcotics networks, reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy against drug-related activities across the province.

During a recent committee meeting, officials discussed several issues related to narcotics control, law enforcement, and the implementation of anti-drug measures. The discussion gained attention after police admit that Anmol Pinky had been arrested in Lahore, according to information shared during the briefing.

The revelation prompted questions from lawmakers regarding the handling of the case. Member of the National Assembly Agha Rafiullah asked why Sindhโ€™s image had been negatively affected if the arrest had actually taken place outside the province. He questioned the circumstances surrounding the public perception of the case after police admit the arrest occurred in Lahore.

Committee members also reviewed broader concerns related to drug trafficking and the availability of narcotics. During the session, officials informed lawmakers that naswar worth approximately Rs1 billion had reportedly been exported from the country.

This disclosure raised further questions from committee members. Lawmaker Qadir Patel asked why products such as paan and gutka continue to face restrictions while naswar exports are being permitted. The issue sparked debate over the consistency of existing regulations.

Responding to the concerns, Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar acknowledged that legal complications exist within the current framework. He explained that authorities view the health impacts of mawa and gutka differently from those associated with naswar.

Meanwhile, committee member Nabeel Gabol criticized enforcement efforts. He argued that actions against narcotics, gutka, and mawa often appear concentrated in poorer neighborhoods, particularly Lyari.

Gabol further claimed he could identify specific locations where narcotics were allegedly being distributed. He also alleged that certain illegal activities were taking place with police involvement. His remarks drew attention from other committee members.

The discussion intensified after police admit details regarding the Lahore arrest, prompting calls for greater transparency and accountability in law enforcement operations.

Senior PPP leader Faryal Talpur urged authorities to strengthen anti-drug efforts. She called for stricter action against trafficking networks and encouraged police officials to take additional measures.

Talpur also asked Gabol to share any relevant information with authorities so that investigations could proceed. She stressed the importance of gathering evidence and taking action wherever illegal activities are identified.

As the meeting concluded, committee members emphasized the need for stronger coordination among law enforcement agencies. The discussion highlighted ongoing concerns about narcotics control, regulatory inconsistencies, and public confidence in anti-drug operations.

The issue attracted particular attention after police admit that the arrest under discussion had taken place in Lahore, raising further questions from lawmakers regarding the handling of the case and its wider implications.
