Police have foiled an attempted Drone Attack on Matani Police Station in Peshawar, according to a senior police official.
Peshawar Capital City Police Officer Mian Saeed said militants attempted to target the police facility using a drone. He said security measures already installed at the station helped prevent the explosives from reaching the compound.
No casualties were reported during the incident.
Protective Barrier Prevents Explosives From Entering
According to CCPO Mian Saeed, a protective barrier had been installed around the police station.
The barrier prevented explosives dropped from the drone from falling inside the station’s premises. Police also obtained footage showing explosives being dropped from the drone, according to the CCPO.
The official said enhanced security arrangements played an important role in preventing potential damage.
Authorities had strengthened protection around the facility because of existing security concerns. The attempted Drone Attack has now prompted further security measures at other police facilities in the area.
No Casualties Reported
The CCPO confirmed that no police personnel or civilians were injured during the incident.
The protective arrangements prevented the explosives from directly reaching the police station’s compound. Officials are now focusing on reducing the risk of similar incidents at other vulnerable locations.
Police stations in surrounding areas are expected to receive additional protective measures.
