The Counter Crime Department (CCD) conducted a major raid at the residence of Aqeel alias Gogi Butt in Lahore on Friday, but no arrests were made, according to police officials.
Authorities confirmed that Gogi Butt was not present at his home during the operation. However, they expressed confidence that the wanted suspect would be apprehended soon. Police sources revealed that he has been on the run for several days and is believed to have fled with his close aides.
Gogi Butt, who is a nominated suspect in the Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case, is currently on interim bail. Police clarified that the latest raid was part of a separate investigation involving other criminal links.
Multiple raids and search operations
CCD teams also conducted raids in Lahore’s Defence area and other locations to trace the fugitive. Sources reported that Gogi Butt was recently spotted in Rahim Yar Khan, where he was allegedly present during an armed assault on a police convoy transporting Khawaja Tareef Gulshan alias Teefi Butt to Lahore.
Two additional raids were carried out in a private housing society and Gawalmandi, but the suspect managed to evade capture. Following Teefi Butt’s death, the CCD has intensified its crackdown on gang members and facilitators linked to organized criminal networks.
Tracking operations underway
Officials confirmed that advanced tracking tools, including mobile locators, are being used to monitor Gogi Butt’s movements. His arrest is expected soon as multiple CCD teams and local police units in Rahim Yar Khan continue coordinated operations.

Earlier this week, an Additional and Sessions Court extended Gogi Butt’s interim bail until October 13 in the Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case. The hearing was postponed after his lawyer failed to appear, citing commitments at the Lahore High Court.
Authorities remain confident that with the help of technology and intelligence sharing, Gogi Butt will be arrested in the coming days.
