Police Set to Seal Key Locations in Twin Cities Ahead of PTI Protest

Police have decided to fully seal off nine locations in Islamabad and 25 in Rawalpindi as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) plans to hold a protest in Rawalpindi today (Saturday).

In Rawalpindi, key areas such as Faizabad Interchange, Kacha Stop, Gulzar-e-Quaid, Shamsabad, IJP Road, Double Road, Kattarian Bridge, Pandora Chowk, and Khanna Bridge will be closed.

In Islamabad, locations including T Chowk, Korral, Khanna, Faizabad, IJP Junction, 26 Number, Golra Mor, B-17, and Margalla Cut on GT Road will also be sealed off.

All routes will be blocked with containers, dump trucks, loaded vehicles, and barbed wire.

Reports indicate that over 4,000 officers and personnel equipped with anti-riot gear will be deployed across Rawalpindi, with additional forces positioned at 31 sites. A DSP and two SHOs, along with their teams, will be stationed at each checkpoint.

To support the Punjab Police, Elite Force units and patrol teams will be equipped with anti-riot gear, while Islamabad police will manage law and order, including the arrest of PTI protestors.

Senior officials, including the DIG Operations, SSP Operations, SPs, SDPOs, and SHOs from all Islamabad stations, will be on the ground.

Section 144 has been enforced in both cities, banning gatherings of more than four people. Police officers have been ordered to take strict action against those disrupting public order and arrest them immediately.

Reports also suggest that metro bus and mobile phone services will be suspended in the twin cities today (Saturday).
