Islamabad — The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has urged the government to hold an open and transparent debate on the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment, which seeks major changes in the country’s military command structure.
PPP leaders emphasized that any amendment to the Constitution must undergo parliamentary scrutiny and public discussion, ensuring that all stakeholders are taken into confidence.
They cautioned against hasty approval of such a sensitive proposal, calling for national consensus on issues affecting civil-military balance and institutional roles.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to constitutional supremacy and democratic oversight, stressing that reforms of this magnitude must reflect the will of the Parliament and the people.
