The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has raised concerns over ongoing budget talks with the federal government. Party sources say the negotiations have reached a deadlock due to unmet agreements.
According to PPP sources, the main issue in budget talks is the government’s failure to provide complete budget details. They claim that an agreement was already in place to share full financial documents with the party.
The PPP has repeatedly demanded a detailed draft of the budget. However, sources say the government has not shared information about proposed taxes or the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
Party representatives stated that transparency remains a key concern in the budget talks. They allege that details of both new and existing taxes have not been disclosed so far.
PPP sources further claimed that the government plans to introduce new taxes. They also said there are intentions to increase the rates of existing taxes without proper consultation.
Another major point of disagreement in the budget talks is development funding. The PPP has expressed reservations over the inclusion of development schemes in the PSDP.
According to party sources, development projects proposed by the PPP for all four provinces have not been included. They also stated that some projects from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were left out of the PSDP list.
The PPP insists that its development proposals must be fully included in the national development plan. Party sources say this is part of the earlier agreement made during budget talks with the government.
They warned that if the agreement is not implemented, the party will decide its future course of action. The PPP is urging the government to ensure full transparency and cooperation in ongoing budget talks.
Officials from the government side have not yet issued a detailed response to these allegations. However, discussions are expected to continue as both sides attempt to resolve the deadlock.
