PSB Pushes Back Against PHF’s Allegations Over Tour Issue

PSB Pushes Back Against PHF’s Allegations Over Tour Issue

The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has rejected claims made by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) regarding the national team’s participation in the FIH Season-7 event in Hobart, Australia. The Board described the allegations about the Pro League Tour as misleading and contrary to official records.

In an official statement, the PSB said documentary evidence proves that all financial obligations for the Pro League Tour were fulfilled on time. However, it noted that several administrative and operational issues arose at the federation level.

The national team was initially scheduled to leave for Australia on February 2, 2026. Due to visa delays and incorrect information submitted by the PHF, the departure was rescheduled. After PSB intervened with the Australian High Commission, the team departed on February 5 and reached Hobart on February 7.

The Board paid Rs 27.1 million for the original airfare. It also covered an additional Rs 9.7 million caused by visa-related delays during the Pro League Tour.

According to the statement, the PHF sent details of 21 players and officials on January 26, 2026. Information for five more members was shared a day later. On January 28, PSB issued a cheque for hotel payments. The Board said the delay was due to late submission of documents by the federation.

An advance of 49,280 Australian dollars was released for accommodation at a four-star hotel in Hobart. The booking included 12 double rooms and two single rooms. However, the federation allegedly failed to confirm the reservation before departure.

Players also received an advance daily allowance of US$1,610 each, along with around US$3,000 for other expenses.

The PHF had requested Rs 350 million for its overall Pro League campaign. The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination approved Rs 250 million. The remaining funds were to be arranged by the federation under its constitution. The PSB stated that no detailed financial plan was submitted.

The Board also cited past delays in documentation for other tours. It added that governance rules assign financial oversight to PSB, while logistics and operations remain the federation’s responsibility.

The PSB maintained that it met all obligations for the Pro League Tour and will continue to support national sports under established policies.
