PSX to Remain Closed on May 28 for Youm-e-Takbeer Observance

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) will remain closed on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, a national holiday marking the country’s nuclear achievements. The closure follows an official directive from the Government of Pakistan.

A notification issued by PSX on Monday confirmed that all trading activities would be suspended for the day. Stakeholders have been advised to plan accordingly, as no market operations will take place.

Youm-e-Takbeer is observed each year on May 28 to commemorate Pakistan’s successful nuclear tests in 1998, which were carried out in the Chaghi hills of Balochistan. The tests positioned Pakistan as the seventh nuclear-armed nation globally and the first Muslim-majority country to possess such capability.

The day is widely seen as a symbol of national resilience and strategic deterrence, with events and ceremonies held across the country to honour the milestone.
