The Islamabad High Court has scheduled a hearing on a petition regarding the closure of the X Account of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. The case will be heard on Monday, according to reports.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir will preside over the proceedings. The court has already received a response from Adiala Jail authorities. Other parties involved in the case have been directed to submit their replies before the hearing.
The petition challenges the closure of the X Account, which was previously used by the former prime minister to communicate with the public. The issue has drawn attention due to its legal and political implications.
Senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja is representing Imran Khan in the case. The court had earlier allowed him to meet his client for consultation. However, the meeting did not take place despite clear court orders. This development raised concerns during earlier proceedings.
During a previous hearing in February, the court asked for final arguments on the petition. The case was then adjourned until the first week of May. Lawyers Zafarullah Khan and Ali Bukhari appeared before the bench during that session.
Ali Bukhari informed the court that Salman Akram Raja could not attend due to health reasons. The bench also questioned jail authorities about their failure to arrange the meeting with Imran Khan. The court emphasized the importance of legal consultation for proper case preparation.
The petitioner’s legal team stated they are ready to present arguments. However, they stressed the need to consult their client before proceeding. The bench also sought clarity on whether responses would be submitted by Imran Khan himself or by the PTI as a party.
The case related to the X Account is expected to see key developments in the upcoming hearing. Legal experts believe the outcome may have wider implications for digital access and communication rights.
Meanwhile, concerns about Imran Khan’s health have also emerged. His sister, Aleema Khan, has raised issues about his condition. She urged authorities to provide better medical care and transfer him to a hospital if necessary.
