Imran Khan’s health has come under scrutiny as experts stress the need for specialized treatment. His personal doctor highlighted that a hospital equipped with modern facilities is essential to manage the PTI founder’s complex eye condition.
Dr. Faisal Sultan said that the medical team should include an eye specialist due to the sudden loss of sight in Khan’s right eye. He emphasized that other existing health issues could affect recovery, making coordinated care crucial.
“For effective treatment, the team must work together and use resources at a hospital equipped with advanced infrastructure,” Dr. Sultan said. He recommended including Dr. Asim Yousuf, citing their long-term knowledge of Khan’s medical history.
The concern escalated after Barrister Salman Safdar submitted a detailed report to the Supreme Court on Khan’s condition. The report urged an immediate examination of the PTI founder’s eyes by expert ophthalmologists.
According to Safdar’s report, Khan had normal eyesight three to four months ago. However, blurred vision developed over time, and despite repeated complaints to jail authorities, his right eye completely lost vision, now functioning at only 10 to 15 percent. The report also highlighted that jail officials had not taken sufficient steps to address the condition.
Dr. Sultan stressed that high-quality facilities, like those at Shifa International Hospital, provide the necessary equipment and medical staff for comprehensive treatment. He called for a fully coordinated approach to ensure the PTI founder receives the best care possible.
The Supreme Court had already allowed Barrister Safdar to meet Khan at Adiala Jail and appointed him as a ‘friend of the court’. Safdar was instructed to report on Khan’s health, living conditions, and available medical facilities.
Experts now hope that with a hospital equipped for specialized eye treatment and a coordinated medical team, Imran Khan’s condition can be closely monitored and treated effectively.
This step comes amid growing concerns over prison healthcare and highlights the importance of timely intervention for critical health issues.
