Former PTI minister Fawad Chaudhry criticized the current state of the party, claiming that PTI leaders are outsourcing decisions to former opponents.
Chaudhry said, “Current PTI leaders don’t know what to do.” He added that the founder’s family, including Aleema Khan, should step in to guide the party.
The former minister commented on the proposed high-level meeting between the opposition leader and the prime minister. He said it should aim for concrete results rather than symbolic gestures.
“In my opinion, a meeting of Mehmood Achakzai with the PTI founder will not be beneficial at this stage,” Chaudhry said. He suggested that Achakzai first meet with the prime minister before engaging with PTI leadership. “Achakzai must have something substantial in hand if the meeting is to be meaningful,” he added.
Chaudhry also expressed concern over recent token protests and alleged thefts on February 8. “Currently, the PTI does not have clear leadership,” he said. “Protests and dialogue could proceed side by side, but we must aim to reduce internal divisions.”
He urged for unity within the party, stressing that PTI leaders must work together to resolve internal conflicts. Chaudhry emphasized the importance of strategic planning to maintain political relevance.
The former minister’s remarks reflect ongoing challenges within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, as leadership questions and public dissatisfaction grow. Analysts say the party’s future may depend on active involvement from the founder’s family and decisive action by current PTI leaders.
With protests, dialogues, and meetings in the pipeline, party observers suggest that the next few weeks will be critical for determining the direction of PTI.
